ACU students shine at UniSport Nationals in Gold Coast
News 23 OctoberACU students impressed at the UniSport Nationals on the Gold Coast last month with the university clinching nine medals, including an impressive five gold haul.
Taking home four medals and an additional seven top ten performances our ACU team achieved an impressive 11th position in the men’s standings and 14th in the women’s category against some significantly larger university teams.
Drawing students from five different campuses those that competed credited the atmosphere and competing with their peers as the greatest takeaways.
After finishing 6th in the Men’s Long Jump, EAPP student athlete Sami Lutui (B. Bachelor of Psychological Science/B. of Exercise and Sports Science, Melbourne) said it was "meeting other ACU students and sharing stories that made the trip most worthwhile" for him, "can’t wait to do it again next year."
Francesca Sugiaman (Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science, Strathfield) echoed these thoughts, “the ACU squad was so friendly and supportive and it was amazing to hear stories about different ACU Campuses.”
UniSport Nationals Athletics is one of numerous standalone Nationals events held throughout the year with the competitions culminating with the UniSport National Div 1 & 2 Championships on the Gold Coast in September.
Next up 3x3 Basketball in Canberra from 29-30 April and Swimming in Sydney from May 13th.
