ACU Basketball in 2021 has something for everyone.

Domestic Competitions

We have a number of teams already competing in competitions at local associations across the Melbourne Metro area. If you would be interested in meeting new people and playing social basketball, please contact ACU Basketball Head Coach (see below) and we can connect you with possible players near where you live to help you form or join a team.

3 on 3 Basketball

3 on 3 Basketball is a faster-paced version of the game. It is played with three players per side in a half court using one basketball hoop. According to an ESSEC Business School study commissioned by the International Olympic Committee, 3 on 3 is the largest urban team sport in the world. In 2021, ACU will be looking to field teams in the various 3 on 3 satellite events around the state. There are competitions available for both beginners and elite.

New ACU High Performance Program

Over the past few months, we have created an all new ACU Basketball High Performance Program. This new program will provide ACU students with the opportunity to enhance their basketball development while you study.
ACU will be looking to have both female and male teams competing in the newly formed University Basketball League in 2022. In 2021, the program is designed to provide genuine high-performance development ensuring your studies and future can be adequately supported. Squad members will be exposed to:- on-court training; Strength and Conditioning program; competing in a wide array of both 5 on 5 tournaments and 3 on 3 satellite tournaments. This is an exciting opportunity for students to compete on a national stage.

ACU is thrilled to have secured the leadership of former 3-time NBL Championship player of 419 NBL games, Matt Shanahan. Matt has a great deal of experience in Basketball at all levels and will prove invaluable to development of all students within the ACU program we now have available.

We are currently looking for expression of interest in any of the programs ACU Basketball has available.
