The health and safety of our members and guests is our number one priority. We will strictly follow the state government regulations around gym facilities in relation to social distancing, cleaning and hygiene. Check out the COVID-19 FAQs below for what we’ll be doing to support your health and safety, and how you can help to keep our gym community safe.

  • At ACU Sport gyms, the safety of our members and staff is our number one priority. We have implemented an extensive range of preventative measures including: increased professional cleaning, strict member hygiene and cleaning practices, adhering to social distancing guidelines and reduced gym capacities.
  • In addition, our staff have completed the Australian Government COVID-19 infection and prevention control training, and will be issued with optional masks, disposable gloves and extensive cleaning kits ready for use.

  • Water fountains will only be in use to re-fill bottles, not for direct consumption.
  • Changeroom capacities will be reduced and hair dryers will remain non-operational for the time being.

These will vary and change depending on State regulations.

  • ACU Sport Gym Melbourne has the following capacity: gym floor 10, group fitness studio 8, change rooms 5
  • ACU Sport Gym, North Sydney has the following capacity: gym floor 20, group fitness studio 10, change rooms 5
  • ACU Sport Gym, Brisbane has the following capacity: gym floor 10
  • Group fitness classes will be capped in order to maintain appropriate social distancing. This will differ for indoor and outdoor classes. To make things easier, we have introduced online bookings, so you are able to secure your spot ahead of time.
  • In addition, classes will be staggered at least 15 minutes apart to allow for cleaning and sanitisation.
  • Please adhere to social distancing guidelines by following the 1.5 metre distance rule and avoid congregating before and after class.
  • Finally, we recommend you bring your own mat, particularly when attending yoga, core and pilates classes.

  • Wearing a mask is your choice and not mandatory in NSW
  • Wearing a mask in Victoria is mandatory upon entry and exit of the gym facility. You will not be required to wear a mask when exercising.
  • It’s important that you scan into the gym when arriving. This will allow us to track when you have entered and left the club, should the data be required by the Department of Health.
  • We also encourage members to download the Government COVIDSafe app.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends hygiene and other measures to reduce the general risk of infection:

  • frequently cleaning hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
  • when coughing and sneezing cover mouth or nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw tissue away immediately and wash hands
  • avoiding close contact with anyone who has a fever or cough
  • if you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your healthcare provider.

This situation is evolving, and we ask members to continue to check the below websites for the latest updates and guidance:
